Vitamins for Acne

Lets discuss the vitamins which are or can be helpful for acne.

1. Vitamin A

There are several vitamin A derivatives that are found in cosmetic creams. Almost every researcher agrees that this derivative of vitamin A - tretinoin (better known as Retin-A) is very valuable for skin care. Retin-A has a beneficial impact on acne as it strips the skin, removing some of the surface comedones.

We believe that occasional Retin-A treatments under a doctor's supervision can be good for your skin. This helps in reducing wrinkles and makes your skin look healthier.

Vitamin A also strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and prevents acne by reducing sebum production.

2. Vitamin B-Complex

Vitamin B3 - It has anti-inflammatory impact on the skin and has been shown to improve acne to some extent.

Vitamin B5 - It is used as a humectant - that is, it is used to hold water in the stratum corneum, thereby softening the skin.

Vitamin B6 - Controls premenstrual acne outbreaks due to hormonal imbalances. By metabolizing fats and fatty acids, vitamin B6 balances oil production in the skin.

3. Vitamin C

Ester C is a form of this vitamin that is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to penetrate the skin and prevent the recurrent acne. Vitamin C is under testing for the ability to repair scarring from teenage acne flare ups.

4. Vitamin E

This vitamin is commonly found in almonds, broccoli, peanuts, sunflower seeds, wheat germ and vegetable oil. Vitamin E is known to aid in the healing of scar tissue, but most physicians do not agree with that claim. Researchers think that a form of Vitamin E known as Tocotrienol (also known as high potency E or HPE) may have antioxidant properties that are helpful to the skin when taken orally.
